Last weekend, I completed my first Mini Marathon (13.1 miles) in 2 hours 24 minutes. I started being more responsible with my health, exercise and eating about 3 years ago resulting in a drop of 40 lbs. My crazy race walking, marathoner wife got me running... a few 5Ks and eventually an 8K.. when I decided THIS was my last chance to run our local Kentucky Derby Mini-marathon before I turned 40. Training was a pain in the ass... but in the end, I ran a bit better than my training pace, finished under my target time, and had no leg pain the day after... strangely enough my SHOULDERS hurt like hell thought.

Take home message? If I can do this, ANY geek out there can. And believe me, it feel frakkin unbelievable passing a guy that LOOKS in better shape than you.
