 GenCon For Sale...SOLDThe Living Dice Blog is reporting that a Letter of Intent to purchase GenCon has been filed by an entity known as Gen Con Acquisition Group. This organization is incorporated in my home town of Louisville, KY, but the owners are unknown at this time. The impending sale of GenCon is probably the reason the lawsuit from Lucasfilm was settled as part of the purchase agreement includes the transfer of funds to settle accounts with the Make-a-Wish foundation (including 6% interest).
What does this mean for GenCon? Mostly we don't know. I assume GenCon 09 will go on as planned and I see no reason it shouldn't. After all, who would spend all this money just to shut down the convention. I do know this... after starting Magic The Gathering, buying DnD (and the rest of TSR) and then buying GenCon with proceeds of his Sale of WotC to Hasbro... for the first time since all of this, Peter Adkison will be out of gaming. I don't think it's the last we'll hear of him.
