I just had an AWESOME gaming night:
My character got to have a heroic death, helping his friends escape before completing a magical ritual (originally started, but never finished, by his god) establishing a magical shield around the planet, but having a volcano (the source of power for the magical shield) explode around him.

I had asked my GM for an epic death, but I'd expected something along the lines of holding off the evil guards while my friends completed the ritual.

This was just perfect though, as my character all along had been really humble and self sacrificing - insisting that the other heroes were "The Chosen Ones" and he was just there to help them along.


Hey.. Why don't we use this thread for stories like that?
I love gaming stories - as long as they are stories, not lists of stats or magic items... ^_^

Awesome! Yeah, we could trade gaming stories here. Like my sex life, my gaming stories tend to be steeped in humiliation and discomfort, so I'll let y'all do the storytellin'.

I agree, there is no situation which fits "you had to be there" better. I'm a pretty good story teller, especially comical accounts. And even when talking to fellow gamers-it's very difficult to convey a situation and the hilarity.
