 Re: The Walking Dead
I was just having a conversation a couple days ago about the lack of any zombies on television. Can anyone think of a series that features zombies?

 Re: The Walking Dead
Well Buffy and Supernatural had them but nothing as the main constant threat.

Funny you should ask, I've been meaning to post about Dead Set... It's a British mini-series of only 5 half-hour episodes, published by the Big Brother Network but it still counts, right? It's day 54 in the (UK) Big Brother house and it's Eviction Night, when zombies attack the crowds surrounding the set. The five remaining housemates and a few members of the production staff find themselves trapped in the Big Brother house, with the surrounding compound and countryside overrun by the walking dead. While quite the survival drama the show is heavily satirical - especially of tv production culture - but the zombies are thoroughly horrifying, and the zombie make-up is fantastic! This should really be the perfect zombie survival tv-show (short of The Walking Dead of course...) but I found it very hard to sympathise with the protagonists of this show: they are all loathsome, repulsive and engaged in the production of the lowest sort of garbage television has to offer - so I really wanted to root for the zombies, but that too was hard without knowing where they came from. This was a weakness in the show for me, but your mileage will probably vary, especially if you find horribly unpleasant people funny (and if you do you'll LOVE the character Patrick!) If you like zombie survival stories, Dead Set is definitely for you!!

 Re: The Walking Dead
My cautious optimism about this series is hoping for awesomeness. Considering it's AMC, though, I suppose it should be pretty good.

 Re: The Walking Dead
Short seasons would be really good for keeping the show from overtaking comic, if it plans to stay accurate. The only problem is that any kids cast are going to grow fast.

 Re: The Walking Dead
Looks like production has begun. Here's a link to some zombie photos. Also here's a little video with the producers talking about it.
