If the price stays at $300 it might as well be a console. Didn't the Wii cost $250ish at launch?

I'm still fairly confident that Nintendo will likely lower the price to $250 for the US release. When the Wii launched in Japan, it hit for the same price -- 25,000 yen. Exchange rates are always fluctuating, so the fact that everyone got the 300 mark through a loose translation of the Japanese price is kinda silly.

From Nintendo's own history, I'd say $250 is a more reliable prediction. That would put it right at the same price as the PSP's initial launch. Since the 3DS is already being touted as the "final nail in the PSP's coffin" (although I'm more inclined to believe that was already accomplished with the Go), it seems appropriate for it to share the price point.

Either $250 or $300, I think it'll be worth it. Regardless of the 3D, the graphical engine and list of games are both amazing. It'll be worth, I have no doubt.

Which begs the question... too pricey?

Looking at the graphics and quality of the gaming, I'm certainly inclined to say... nope! Definitely not too pricey. In fact, I'd be more surprised if they priced them to match the current DS software catalog. Right now this is putting it more in line with PSP game pricing, and given that these games look about 100x better than anything on that system.... yeah. I'd say it's right on the mark.

Definitely going to have to save up my store credit for late March. I cannot WAIT to get my hands on this.
