Post What are you reading?
Its about time I shipped this topic over to the GRD Boards. :)

Finished my study of The Hobbit which included the two volume History of the Hobbit and the Annotated Hobbit. I haven't read the Hobbit in a while and had forgotten how much I enjoy the book. The History of the Hobbit goes through Tolkien's various versions of the story from the beginning to the last edit in the 60's. Very interesting in terms of history and where from Tolkien took his influences. The Annotated Hobbit as the final edit with sidebars of all sorts of information from historical to anecdotal and artistic. Its worth getting just for the artwork alone. However, I found myself wanting to ignore the side bars as I got into the story. Its a fast read meant for kids but still entertaining to this 30-something.

I also got through Confessions of a Part-Time Sorceress by Sherry Mazzanoble. Its about how a woman got into playing DnD and also serves as a guide for someone unfamiliar with the game but interested in it. It is also an easy read. But I'm a gamer and found it quite redundant.

Now I'm on to Black Talon, a new Dragonlance book about ogres. Nice and bloody and gritty so far. :)

That's a good book. I got lost a bit but I never wanted to give up on it. I ought to find the audiobook.

I just finished Grass by Sheri S Tepper and am halfway through Raising The Stones by her. It's been a long time since I read these books and I'm sad for it.

Wow...I'd forgotten about Sheri Tepper's Grass. I must have read that when it first came out. Not a bad read, as I recall. A little derivative of Dune but not bad...at least I remember I read it it and liked it. :)

In honor of Clarke, I'm rereading the 2001 and Rama books. They're at the top of my list of favorite Sci-Fi.

A SciFi book group I was part of once decided to read Grass as a selection. The book group took place in a bookstore and we got some strange looks when one of the group loudly annoucned we should do "Grass" next month at the meeting....LOL
