 Post Workout Meal
As I had mentioned on GRD sWeekly #73, this is the formula for post work nutrition after an intense exercise bout.
1.0 to 1.2g of Carbohydrates and .5 to .6g of Protein per 1 kg of body weight.
(2.205 lbs = 1 kg)

 Re: Post Workout Meal
This has really been bothering me. I mean, does this mean that if I change my diet to just lower my caloric intake, pay better attention to the stuff I eat, cut out the fast food, and I start mountain biking again, if I do these things is it for naught if I don't take steps like the one you describe here?

 Re: Post Workout Meal
No it doesn't Jabba. If you do all of the things that you discribed, you will lose wieght and get healthier. The post workout meal is just another step to increases your success and your gains that you make in the gym.
Mind you, this post exericse meal is designed for those individual who train as athletes. If you are not exercising at high intensity, you do not need to eat as much for your post exercise meal.

 Re: Post Workout Meal
Okay, so after quitting smoking 2 months ago, I'm moving forward with my new healthier paradigm.
According to the formula I should have; 115-140g carbs-post workout 60-70g protein-post
But since I'm not training as athlete, after my mountain bike ride I had a thing of yogurt and some fresh fruit. 30g carbs 6g protein Is that good, bad, incorrect, on track?

 Re: Post Workout Meal
That is just fine for a post workout snack. You take in enough carbohyrates to replenish you reserves and protein to rebuild the muscle.
The formula that I spoke about was for college and professional athletes who work out for hours at a time and for 5 days a week.
