Post I wish I knew a physical therapist...
That is what I was thinking today, then I remembered The! It's nice to have people you know in medium places ;)

So I believe that I may have injured my hamstring last week. It hurts where my butt turns into my leg. I didn't do anything for it. But after a week it was feeling alright. Jumped on the bike and did 10 miles yesterday, and it feels like I aggravated it again.

I don't care about the pain, that I can deal with. I just want to know how long until I can get back on it, and is there anyway to improve/speed the healing? Or is it just a matter of waiting?

You need to take it a lot slower when recovering from an injury.

You might have pulled the muscle which is a common injury. The first thing that you should do it make sure you can move the injured area though a complete cycle of its range of motion. Then make sure you can put some pressure on it. It sounds like you were able to do both of these things.

You might want to take a couple of short distance rides over easy roads. You will have to test the muscles out slowly so you don't reinjure the muscle. Also start with a long warm up and cool down when you are going to go for a ride. Also after you are done with your ride, take time to stretch. It is the best time becasue your muscles are warm and the most elastic they are going to be.

Yeah... stretching is a little painful. Just bending over to touch the toes hurts that leg. I've actually avoided stretching because of the pain. I just did some warm-up jumping jacks and very light stretching. My muscles felt normal during the ride though (bike obviously relies heavily on the thighs).

If stretching that one leg is painful or more painful than the other one, then you aren't ready for long bike rides. Warm your body up and then stretch.
