What is the best ebook reader and reasons to buy or not buy
each Kindle, Sony, Nook, Apple Free not great internet with Nook is a plus I like this link Hugh4 of BearCrawling Rhode show gave me. http://video.nytimes.com/video/2009/12/ ... /i-am-nookI don't understand if Kindle works better why Target can't have a working display so can be compared to the working Nook at Barnes and Nobel.

I'm really digging the iPad. Novels, comics, game books, PDFs, you name it and ive probably got it on here. I love it.

I would think the iPad would be the way to go, just because you get SO much stuff, PLUS an ereader. Have you gone to the Apple store and toyed around with the iPad? *shudder* So tempting...

I'd really go look at a few demos. Things like the Ipad or the Archos 7 Home Tablet have screens at least similar to your laptop. Do you like reading text for hours on end on your laptop? If yes, then a tablet PC is for you.
If no:
Go check out some E-readers. The E-ink is MUCH easier on the eyes.
Personally, I'm still leaning towards the Sony Daily Edition reader myself. The unit is pretty much all screen and it's not tied to a specific e-book store service. This means that it may take a little more effort to get e-books put on the machine, but I can generally find them cheaper, and load enough on in advance, that I don't have to worry about needing to download on the fly.

My husband was asking me this last night while uh... staring at my overflowing bookshelves, and no, that's not a euphemism. I found this- http://chamberfour.com/ereader-comparison- I'm leaning towards the iPad myself, because I also like the option of web browsing and word processing, and if the reader (especially the comic reader) is worth it, then that would be awesome.

I'm telling you, the ipad is the way to go. I use it daily. Goodreader is awesome for reading large PDFs like game books, Osprey military history books, and other misc non-fiction pdfs. I use ComicZeal to read comic books. It's like having one in my hand. Very fast. I have Stanza for my ebook reader. I don't use it very much on the ipad because I use it on my iphone daily. These three apps are very easy to use, and putting material into them is a breeze.
I really don't know how I got by with my reading with out it all these years. Of course my library room downstairs is getting lonely because I don't visit it as much as I used to.

Re: What is the best ebook reader and reasons to buy or not buy
I realized today I had $100 in various gift cards for B&N, so the nook would only 'cost' $50. I went to Target and played with the Kindle a little- it felt too clunky and the buttons at the bottom were too annoying.
I liked the nook, so I picked it up today... my only problem so far is getting the damn thing to connect to my home network!
