Post Help slay a troll, and share your crazy dating adventures!
So my freind gets a message from a girl on okcupid.com a bit back, she asks for random sex... before he can decline she finds pictures of him online with no shirt on and begins to attack him for needing his ego pet... but wait, Jeremy is a MODEL and ACTOR... it's his job to have his shirt off!!! So she continus to attack him on okcupid.com despite his attempts to defend himself, she then goes to cheaterville and says he has AIDS and a bunch of other crap... he's never met her!

Full conversation is there, and her cheaterville post is there (hopefully it will be taken down shortly due to my efforts).

Heh, go fight the troll!!!

Now, who else here has had craziness. i'm currently writing a book about my top 20ish craziest dates/women I've dated... Like a trannie, a mtf post-op, a girl that sobbed during sex, a girl that asked me to move in with her and her 5 daughters and get married on the 2nd date...

Anyone have any trolls that have gone after them in the past?

Ever heard the phrase, "Don't feed the trolls"?

Your friend never would have been in this situation if he had just deleted and blocked this other person from the moment they sent the first aggressive message.

Seriously. The very fact that he responded at all is what is giving this whole thing fuel. It doesn't matter how he responded, whether taking it seriously or just being "sarcastic and witty." Trolls do this specifically to get a response, ANY response, and just having him waste time typing a single word means that they win.

I went and read his responses that you had copy-pasted to your post, and his first reply was somewhere around two or three PAGES in length. Defending his image and self-worth tooth and nail over an angry poorly-typed rant from an anonymous user on an internet dating site was not the right move. If he plans to make any headway or even survive on the internet, he needs to learn protocol and develop a thicker skin for these things.

There is NO way to "slay a troll." Nothing anyone does will stop this person from making your friend a target, simply because he already made himself a target by replying. This whole pattern of trolling is typical for someone who is just out to give one random person a hard time (which means the troll would have targeted someone else with all this if your friend had just blocked them outright). If you really want the solution, just block this person and be done with it, and hope the next person they target does the same.

And next time, your friend should be a bit wiser about choosing his battles.

Then why did we slay her? We got her posts removed from the site without paying the 200$ they want to remove posts.

You removed "her" posts about your friend. Good for you. Did you also get her IP banned by her ISP, effectively severing her home connection to the internet? Or remove all accessible WiFi points within her vicinity, as well as revoking her digital access plan from her cell phone? Did you ensure that they are incapable of ever posting any comments online, ever again?

Then you didn't "slay the troll." The troll will just find another target, possibly even retargeting your friend under another IP/screen name, because it knows it'll get a reaction out of him.

But hey, live in the moment, right? You really showed that troll who's boss!

Nope. What you're smelling is the stench of trolls that I've encountered over the years. I'm merely offering advice on how to handle them, specifically from experience. Go ahead and ignore me, but then don't be surprised when your friend ends up getting trolled again.

Have fun.

I have been having trouble fighting trolls myself. Mostly I think my character level isn't high enough. I've tried to run away, but they are just so darn fast! I found the most helpful way is to equip my bow and arrow and randomly stop while I'm adventuring to shoot off an arrow in the distance. That way the enemy is drawn to the place my arrow has landed and I can safely run away until I'm strong enough to face them!

Wait....I'm not in the Skyrim forum, am I? Sigh.

Oh well. Here's some other info about trolls.

Quote:
Trolls are large, hairy, ape-like creatures with sharp fangs and claws, long powerful arms, and three beady black eyes. They are often found in forested areas, but also in caves, ruins and mountains as well.

Trolls are not very intelligent creatures, but are very tough and can regenerate health quickly, making them a formidable foe in battle. Their only weakness is fire, which hinders their regeneration abilities, rendering fire spells or fire-enchanted weapons highly effective when dealing with trolls, as well as any potions or poisons that increase fire damage.
